About Equine Osteopathy

The is probably my happiest of happy places!!! I have been riding since I was 4 and have always wanted to work with horses. I initially set out with the intention of being an equine vet but once I started studying Osteopathy I knew I'd found my perfect job! After I qualified as a human Osteopath I did another very intense 1 year of study to qualify as an equine and canine osteopath. My full title is Jo Stutton Bsc(hons)OstPGDipAnimalOst

Horses are incredible animals to work with. They respond so very well to osteopathy and I have developed a strong interest is postural and gait assessment of horses. I have studied in-depth anatomy through several discections, gait mechanics, hoof function, advanced osteopathic techniques and have a big interest in saddle fit and effects of rider balance on horse performance.

Why Equine Osteopathy?

Common reasons I am asked to treat a horse include:

  • altered gait/lameness

  • performance issues

  • pain and stiffness

  • pre/post competition work

  • behavioural changes

  • problems with saddles/bridle/bit

I have treated several top Show Jump teams throughout New Zealand. I work on race yards, with dressage horses, endurance horses, retired horses, foals and young stock. Anyone and everything!!

I also have a mobile table and am happy to treat the riders, too, as this can be hugely beneficial to your horse once your own body is moving better and in better balance!

Canine Osteopathy

Let's not forget Mans Best Friend!!

I am also a qualified Canine Osteopath. Whether it's your family pet, a service dog or farm dog they can all benefit from Osteopathy!

Joint and muscle problems, post surgery scar adhesions and restrictions, post birth problems (mum or pup) or elderly care. Treatment is gentle and effective and can bring much relief to our canine friends!
